To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Carolyn had a thought that it might be fun to go back to the day they said “I do”, to dress up and recreate a number of the stunning pictures from their wedding album. In preparation for this photoshoot, Carolyn began growing out her hair three years prior so it might be the same length because it was 50 years ago.
The plan of recreating previous wedding photos was at the start of Carolyn’s idea and once she presented it to Kelly, she didn’t expect him to agree. Kelly said that commonly he doesn’t care to celebrate occasions like these, however, a fifty-year anniversary appeared a vital date. And it for sure is, as a result of there aren’t so many people who got lucky to find someone with whom they’d spend half a century.

The couple reached out to Sam Hoyle of two Hoyles Photography. All of them met up at the same church within which the couple was married on the eve of their fiftieth day. Carolyn put on her white wedding gown, which still fitted perfectly, and Kelly put on his suit. two Hoyles Photography created new photos attempting to copy the photographs as closely as possible to those on the recent wedding album. They even recreated this image within which a candlestick within the background seems to be growing from Kelly’s head.

In the United States, the average number of marriages that ends in divorce or separation is 40% to 50%. The divorce rate for subsequent marriages is even higher. Moreover, fewer people get married. The divorce rate in 2000 was 8.2 per thousand people, while the divorce rate in 2018 was 6.5 per thousand people. This is because young couples choose to live together for a period of time and postpone the wedding. In addition, couples spend more time together before deciding to get married. Of course, with the change in the concept of marriage, this decline has also decreased, because people generally believe that marriage is unnecessary or outdated. Therefore, a 50-year-old couple is very special.
Although Kelly didn’t think that they are special: “We got through a lot, but I don’t know if we’ve gone through anything more than other couples go through. I don’t think we’re anything special. We just found a way to get over the hard parts and enjoy the other parts.”

The revision of this dress cost 8 dollars, and the price of the veil was 25 dollars, so she bought everything for less than 100 dollars. The cost of the reception is $63.82 and she stayed at the Place d’Armes Hotel in New Orleans for 5 nights and spent a total of US$91.20, including parking.

This couple is really inspiring and proves that true love still exists. It’s really an amazing idea to take photos, and what’s even more lovely is to see that their eyes in the new photos are still the same.
